James Sparshatt est un artiste photographe britannique. Il a été le lauréat de l'Exposition Internationale du Center for Fine Art Photography du Colorado, USA en 2008, a été présélectionné pour les Sony World Photographic Awards 2009 et a été finaliste du World Photography Gala Awards en 2010. Son oeuvre "Soweto Strings" a été vendue aux enchères à Sotheby's New York en novembre 2011.

Ses travaux capturent de façon spectaculaire le dynamisme et l'intensité émotionnelle de la vie. Ses images de la musique et la danse latino, du flamenco en Espagne, du tango en Argentine, de la salsa dans les rues de La Havane, sont pleines de mouvement et d'émotion. Ses travaux ont été exposés à New York, au Texas, à Londres, en Espagne, à Cuba et au Royaume-Uni. Son exposition de 2006 au Royal National Theatre a été décrite dans le "Sunday Telegraph" comme "une collection éblouissante d'images en noir et blanc."

Une sélection de ses images sont des tirages platine-palladium réalisés parles imprimeurs Paul et Max Caffell du 31 Studio. 31 Studio travaille aussi avec David Bailey, Henri Lartigue et Sebastiano Salgado parmi de nombreux autres photographes célèbres.

James Sparshatt is a British photographer. He was the winner of the International Exhibition of the Fine Art Photography Centre of Colorado, USA, in 2008, and xas preselected as a finalist in the Sony World Photographic Awards 2009. He was also a finalist at the World Photography Gala Awards in 2010. His work "Soweto Strings" was auctioned off by Sotheby’s New York in November 2011.

His work dramatically captures the vibrancy and emotional intensity of life. His images capturing music and Latin dances – the Flamenco in Spain, the Tango in Argentina, and the Salsa on the streets of Havana  – are full of movement and emotion. His works have been exhibited in New York, Texas, London; Spain, Cuba, and United States. His 2006 exhibition at the Royal National Theatre has been described in the “Sunday Telegraph” as “a dazzling collection of black and white pictures.”

A small selection of his black and white images have now been produced as palladium platinum prints by Paul and Max Caffell of 31 Studio, who also work with David Bailey, the Henri Lartigue foundation and Sebastiao Salgado.

James’s Dark Materials series is taken at sunset in Gokarna in southern India, the site of three ancient Hindu temples, and is a celebration of youth, friendship and energy.
